Today, we want to talk about a group of children who need our help more than ever – unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC).

Who Are These Children?

These young people arrive in the UK from incredibly traumatic situations – fleeing war, persecution, violence, and civil unrest. Some have been trafficked, and many have been exploited on their journey here.

They arrive without parents or family to look after them, and as a result, they have emotional, cultural, and practical needs that require our support.

Now try to imagine being a child, arriving in a new country all alone, without the comfort of family.

These children need a safe, caring place to call home. Somewhere they can settle for a few weeks, months, or sometimes years as they take steps towards their future.

They need to know that there is someone there for them, someone who cares.

In this inspiring 5-minute film, we interview Yunus, a dedicated foster carer who has spent the past 12 years caring for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

Yunus shares his heartfelt experiences, the successes he's witnessed, and invaluable tips for supporting these vulnerable young people.

Discover how Yunus overcomes language barriers and provides a nurturing environment for children who have faced unimaginable challenges. His story is a testament to the power of compassion and the difference one person can make.

We need more foster carers and supported lodgings providers to join us in offering a home for these vulnerable young people.

By becoming a foster carer or supported lodgings host, you can provide a safe space for these children to live and help them reclaim their childhoods.
