Hull Fostering enjoyed a weekend of festive fun with a Christmas party, theatre trip, and magical activities, creating unforgettable memories for foster families.
We’ve just about recovered from what was undoubtedly the best weekend of the year!
It all began on Friday evening with the final Fostering Hub of the year. The Hull FC Community Foundation treated us to an incredible Christmas party, complete with bouncy castles, guest appearances from two Hull FC players, party food, and a very special visit from Santa. The atmosphere was electric, with children’s laughter filling the air as they enjoyed the bouncy castles and played games.
We even had time to celebrate a young person turning 12 years old. We sang happy birthday to her while everyone had the best time playing giant twister, bouncing, sliding, and playing football with Hull FC players Yusuf Aydin and Ed Chamberlain. Each child received a present from Father Christmas, making the evening even more magical.
We are eternally grateful for the support Hull FC Community Foundation offers Hull Fostering. They provide us with a weekly fostering community hub where we all come together to eat a meal, play games, and engage in crafts. It’s the jewel in the crown of the support package we offer our foster families. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your ongoing support!
On Saturday 14th December, 600 members of our fostering community enjoyed a magical performance of Goldilocks and the Three Bears at Hull New Theatre. Each child was given a free sweet cone by a small group of foster carers who have kindly set up a charity called Fun 4 Fostering Families. They have raised money throughout 2024 to provide nice treats such as the sweet cones.
There is something very magical about the pantomime, so organising a big group booking for our foster families was a treat to see play out. Especially for the younger ones, who were visiting the theatre for the first time this Christmas. The excitement was palpable as the children watched the performance, their faces lighting up with joy. Oh no you didn’t…oh yes they did!
Then, on Sunday 15th December, we hosted the best Christmas party ever! The afternoon was packed with fun, including soft play, a disco, football, Scrapstore crafts, delicious food, face painting, a sensory garden, a magical grotto, and two very special guests—Elf on the Shelf and Santa! The children’s faces lit up with excitement as they explored the sensory garden and visited the magical grotto. We saw lots of happy faces, which makes the organising so worthwhile.
Can you believe we squeezed so much into one weekend?
Making happy memories is always our goal, and we’re confident we achieved that this weekend.
A huge thank you to our amazing foster carers, wonderful children, supportive foster carer network, and everyone involved in making this weekend so incredibly special. We are truly grateful!
