support workers are a lifeline for foster carers. They aren’t social workers, but they play a crucial role in helping foster families navigate the practical challenges of caring for a larger family.

We’re thrilled to share some heart warming feedback about Louise, one of Hull Fostering’s incredible support workers. We hope Louise feels the love and appreciation from our carers and young people.

In Hull, fostering support workers are a lifeline for foster carers. They aren’t social workers, but they play a crucial role in helping foster families navigate the practical challenges of caring for a larger family. From transporting children to school to giving carers some much-needed free time, fostering support workers are there to lend a hand.

A Carer’s Story -

"Not long ago, my family grew overnight when I took on my niece as her kinship foster carer. Adjusting to fostering was challenging, but thanks to Louise’s practical support, my family has been able to maintain a consistent routine. Louise has been a key part of our ‘new normal’ and has built an incredible professional relationship with everyone in my family. Recently, she even helped with cookery tasks with the children, allowing me to fully participate in a fostering review meeting. I am very well supported by my fostering social worker, Emma, and my fostering support worker, Louise, who truly is an angel."

Louise's colleagues feel the same about her too, they said "Louise is a wonder woman; she manages to be everything to everyone. If a foster carer is struggling to take their young person to school, she will get up at the crack of dawn and help with transport. She supports carers with training, meetings, and even takes young people out for a couple of hours while their carer attends appointments. Louise has the best listening ear, is non-judgmental, and is an all-round golden egg."

We are unbelievably lucky to have her as part of our kinship care team.

We are so grateful for the amazing work Louise and all our other fostering support workers do and hope Louise and her colleagues feel the love and appreciation from our fostering community.
