No Smoking Day_Hull_Fostering

Myth - You can’t foster if you smoke. Truth - Yes, you can foster if you smoke, but there are some important guidelines to follow.

If you’re a smoker, you can still foster children who are over 5 years old. However, smoking around babies and young children is a big no-no due to the risks associated with secondhand smoke.

Why you can't foster babies if you smoke

It’s all about keeping our little ones safe and healthy. Secondhand smoke is particularly harmful to babies and young children. It increases the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), which is why we have strict rules about smoking around them. We want to make sure every child has the best start in life, and that means a smoke-free environment for our tiniest tots.

No Smoking Day is coming up on Wednesday 12 March. It’s the perfect opportunity to think about quitting smoking for good. Hull Fostering is teaming up with Smoke Free Hull to offer a fantastic free app to help you quit smoking. If you’re interested in fostering and would like some support to quit, this app could be just what you need.

If you are interested in becoming a foster carer, have a Hull postcode (HU1 - HU9 postcode) and would like some support in quitting smoking you can download the SmokeFreeApp and get 6 month’s access for FREE.
