Each October, we come together to recognise and celebrate the remarkable contributions made by the children of foster carers.
These children play an essential role in the success of fostering, often welcoming young people in care into their homes, sharing their lives, and offering the support that makes a real difference.
This month, led by The Fostering Network, we collectively highlight how vital these young contributors are in creating nurturing and supportive environments for children in care.
Children growing up in fostering households embody compassion, patience, and generosity. They don’t just share their home, but also their hearts, helping children and young people feel accepted, loved, and safe. These children play a key part in shaping the fostering experience by offering friendship, understanding, and a sense of belonging to those placed in their care. Their willingness to open their lives to others truly enhances the fostering journey.
Throughout October, we amplify the voices of these children and share their stories. By shining a light on their experiences, we give insight into both the challenges and rewards of growing up in a fostering family. From adjusting to changes in family dynamics to the personal growth they undergo, these children offer unique perspectives on what it means to support young people in care. Their stories remind us of the incredible impact they have on the fostering community.
The fostering community could not thrive without the dedication of children who grow up alongside foster siblings. Their presence and support are fundamental in creating a loving and stable home for children and young people in care.
The Fostering Network, along with the wider fostering community, extends a heartfelt thank you to every child whose family fosters.
Your kindness and generosity are recognised and deeply appreciated.
By welcoming children into your families, you play a significant role in helping them feel happier, safer, and truly loved.
Your efforts are invaluable, and this October, we honour you for all that you do.
