A voice for Hull. A voice for children. A voice that matters.
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Chiedu Oraka — one of Hull’s most authentic and powerful voices — is officially our newest Fostering Ambassador.
Chiedu’s name is already etched into the heart of Hull’s cultural identity. Born and raised in North Hull, he’s built his music career on honesty, pride, and telling real stories from our city’s streets. And next month, Chiedu will take the stage as a supporting act for Coldplay, right here in Hull — the biggest gig the city has seen in years.
To have someone of Chiedu’s calibre stand alongside us, championing Hull Fostering and our children in care, is nothing short of extraordinary.
Chiedu’s decision to become an ambassador couldn’t come at a more critical time.
Hull has one of the highest numbers of looked-after children in the UK. But despite the huge need, we're still in urgent short supply of local foster carers.
Chiedu understands the power of visibility and community. By lending his voice, platform, and passion, he’s helping us raise the profile of fostering with those who might never have considered it before — particularly across younger audiences, diverse communities, and working families who might be asking themselves:
“Could I foster?”
He’s not here for the headlines. He’s here for the heart.
Over the coming months, we’ll be working with Chiedu on a series of short videos, interviews and social media takeovers to help bust myths, share real stories, and open doors to conversations that matter.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to find out more about fostering — this is it.
Share this article with someone who’s got the heart for fostering but maybe doesn’t realise it yet.
Join our next information event on Thursday 25th September at 7.30pm, no pressure, no commitment, just honest answers and inspiring stories.
Thank you, Chiedu, from the bottom of our hearts — thank you. For using your voice to help children who sometimes feel unheard. For standing up for Hull. And for making fostering something to talk about.
This is just the beginning. And we couldn’t be more proud.
