Our Hull Fostering community came together for what can only be described as a truly special Christmas celebration. One that we will be talking about, and smiling about, for a long time to come.
In total, we welcomed 320 children and young people, alongside over 150 foster carers and family adults, all under one roof. To see so many of our families together was incredibly powerful. It felt warm, inclusive and full of joy, the kind of atmosphere that reminds you exactly why community matters so much in fostering.
What made this event even more special was the feedback we received afterwards. Families told us that we had “hit it just right” for every age group, from our tiniest babies right through to our teenagers. That kind of feedback is phenomenal, and something we are incredibly proud of. Creating spaces where every child and young person feels thought about, included and comfortable is not easy, but on Sunday it truly felt like we got it right.
We want to say a huge thank you to every single family who came along. Thank you for giving up your time, for bringing your energy, your patience and your Christmas spirit, and for helping to create such a positive, welcoming space for our children and young people.
A very special thank you must go to Together We Foster CIC. This is a very new community interest company, set up by a small group of Hull foster carers, with one clear aim, to give back to our fostering community. Through sheer determination and kindness, they raised enough money to buy every child a Christmas present, wrap them all with care, and provide the food and drinks for every child who attended. Without them, this party simply would not have happened in the way that it did. Their generosity, time and commitment made an enormous difference, and we are so grateful.
We would also like to thank Active Plus for welcoming us into their venue and helping us create such a brilliant space for the day. And to Inflated Delights and Party Octopus, thank you for adding that extra sparkle with the globe and the 360 photo booth. The smiles, laughter and memories captured were priceless. You really did help make the day feel extra special for our children.
Events like this remind us just how incredible our Hull Fostering families are. Our children and young people show such resilience, humour and heart, and our foster carers give so much of themselves every single day. To see everyone together, laughing, chatting, playing and celebrating Christmas as one big community was truly heart warming.
We are so proud of our families, so thankful to our supporters, and so grateful to be part of a fostering community that continues to show up for each other. This Christmas party was something really special, and it is a moment we will carry with us for a long time to come.
