Connexin has partnered with Hull Fostering to become a fostering-friendly organisation, providing flexible working arrangements and additional support to employees who foster.
Connexin, a Hull-based specialist in smarter technology and digital connectivity, has proudly partnered with us to become a certified fostering-friendly organisation.
As part of this commitment, Connexin will offer three days of paid leave to their employees applying to become foster carers and provide five additional days of paid leave annually to employees who foster children.
Hull sadly has one of the highest rates of looked-after children in the UK. This creates an urgent need for more foster carers to provide stable and loving homes.
Having Connexin’s support by becoming fostering-friendly helps us address this pressing issue by supporting any of their employees who wish to foster, giving them the flexibility and resources to balance work with their fostering responsibilities.
The additional leave can be used for fostering commitments, including mandatory training and progress meetings, helping potential carers overcome practical obstacles to fostering.
Tracy Hemming-Tayler, VP of People and Culture at Connexin, commented
“Becoming a fostering-friendly employer is about removing barriers for our people to do extraordinary things outside of work. We’re here to support those who have chosen to open their homes and hearts to children, giving them the support they need to navigate the journey.”
Laura Gawthorpe, Recruitment, Retention and Information Officer at Hull Fostering, said
“We are thrilled Connexin has become a fostering-friendly organisation. This positive step will have a profound impact on the lives of children and foster families in and around Hull.
By making small adaptations for their employees who wish to become foster carers, Connexin is helping their staff have the best of both worlds, they can continue to progress their careers with Connexin, whilst offering a loving home for children in need of a foster family.”
