Some of Hull’s children and young people have bravely helped us share honest reflections about what living with foster carers has meant to them. Their words are powerful, emotional and real.
At Hull Fostering, we never want children to be defined by the reasons they came into care. We are about support, opportunity, belonging and helping children feel safe enough to just be children again.
Sometimes fostering is not about grand gestures.
Sometimes it is simply reassuring a child that they do not need to carry adult worries anymore.
That what happened to them is not their fault.
That they are safe.
That somebody is there for them.
Every child in care is different.
They all have different personalities, different experiences and different needs.
That is why we need different kinds of foster carers in Hull.
Many people rule themselves out before they even ask the question.
Please do not assume fostering is not for you.
There are many different types of fostering, including:
short breaks
sleepovers
emergency fostering
long term fostering
supported lodgings
You are not signing your life away by making an enquiry. Our team will support you to explore what could realistically work for your life, family and circumstances.
Hull urgently needs more foster carers so children can stay close to their schools, communities, friends and the people important to them.
